Eric Nichelson, like Tabasco sauce, hails from Iberia Parish, Louisiana. Pursuing a major in Jazz Studies at the prestigious University of North Texas brought Eric to Denton, Texas in the spring of 1996. Soon after, he joined an experimental jazz group that would evolve into the internationally acclaimed rock band Midlake.
Success with Midlake came slowly, but steadily; with four LPs, several EPs, and even a rockumentary under their belts, Midlake have received critical and popular acclaim enjoyed by few. A career spanning a decade and a half, the band has embarked on multiple headline tours of the United States, Europe and Australia, as well as headlining several major European festivals. Midlake has also had the unique pleasure of sharing the stage with legendary artists like Pearl Jam, The Flaming Lips, Neil Young, America, and Band of Horses.
While not touring or working with Midlake, Eric enjoys spending time with his family, participating in the vibrant north Texas music scene, and running. He is owner/director of Denton Music Workshop, a multiuse teaching and recording space in the heart of downtown Denton. Eric is the coowner of the prohibition era Paschall Bar, honored as Denton’s Best Kept Secret Bar for the past three years.
“The Supro Thunderbolt Plus is the best amp I’ve ever owned. There isn’t another amp with this kind of versatility and classic sound. A must have for all guitar players!”
